I know that not everyone who reads this blog celebrates Halloween. But I have seen an uptick in people visiting my Halloween posts in the last week, so I thought I could put this out there to help out any teachers looking for some quick Halloween Brain Breaks.
My Halloween Wakelet has over 70 bookmarks, but some lessons require a bit more prep than others. So I combed through it in order to highlight a few for you that could be last-minute time-fillers. You know, for those moments your class gets called to take school pictures and you end up waiting in line for twenty minutes, or when you need to conference with a student and want the rest of the class to be engaged, etc…
- Halloween Sudoku – This is online, and you can click the Settings to choose the difficulty level. You can also make it full screen if you want to project it.
- Halloween Magnetic Poetry Template – This is also digital, using Google Drawings.
- 5 Minute Film Festival: Happy Halloween – These are short videos you can show, some educational and some just intriguing.
- 13 Days of Spooky Math Challenges – You can print these out or just project them and see if students can solve.

- Halloween Podcasts – I love how Jeff Glade (@GladeJeff) has curated these by grade level (PK-6) and added special notes.
- Halloween Paired Puzzle – Print out this fun activity from Donna Lasher at Big Ideas 4 Little Scholars.
- Easy Halloween Origami – I’ll admit that I’ve never found origami easy, but these 21 projects look fun! Give students the links so they can choose one to do at their own pace.
